Bitter Gourd

The bitter gourd, scientific name Momordica charantia, is a native vegetable that grows in the shape of small shuttle-shaped balls. The surface of the bed is rough and protruding. The bitter gourd has a green fruit that turns reddish-yellow as it matures. It contains Charantin, an insulinlike substance that can effectively substitute insulin, helping to keep blood sugar levels in check, giving diabetic patients more energy, faster wound healing, and lowering their risk of complications.

Bitter gourd extract containing Charantin lowers blood sugar levels while also decreasing sugar synthesis in the liver and raising insulin release in the pancreas.
